Philippine Consulate in Alaska
Alaska has the hardest consular geography in the country, and it recently got easier. The state is now served by the Philippine Consulate General in Seattle, which reopened after years in which Alaska reported to San Francisco — a considerably longer journey. There is also a Philippine honorary consulate in Juneau.

How far the consulate is from your city
Driving distances to the post that covers each city, calculated at posted speed limits and without traffic:
| City | Philippine post | Distance | Journey |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anchorage | Seattle | no road route | by air |
| Fairbanks | Seattle | no road route | by air |
| Juneau | Seattle | no road route | by air |
There is no road to the consulate from Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau. The journey is a flight, which is worth weighing against what the trip is actually for — several of the most searched Philippine procedures need no consular visit at all.
What can be done without leaving home
Before booking anything, check whether your document involves a consulate at all. Three of the most common ones do not:
- PSA certificates — birth, marriage, death, CENOMAR — come from the Philippine Statistics Authority and are ordered online.
- Apostilles on documents issued in Alaska come from the state’s own competent authority. Since 15 May 2019 the consulate cannot authenticate them.
- NBI clearance is issued in the Philippines and applied for by mail; only the fingerprint card needs a consular officer.
What does require you in person is anything carrying your biometrics or your signature: a passport, the oath of allegiance and a special power of attorney.
Juneau has no road connection to the rest of North America; you arrive by air or by ferry. Anchorage, where most of the state's Filipino community lives, is a separate flight again. Anything that can be done on paper should be.
