From Columbus that is 14 h 12 min by car each way, which makes it worth checking the consular outreach schedule before committing to the drive: missions bring passport and dual citizenship services to cities without a post, and the appointments are free.
Before you plan the journey
A large share of the trips people make to a Philippine consulate were never necessary. These three are handled entirely elsewhere:
- PSA certificates — birth, marriage, death, CENOMAR — come from the Philippine Statistics Authority and are ordered online.
- Apostilles on documents issued in Georgia come from the state’s own competent authority. Since 15 May 2019 the consulate cannot authenticate them.
- NBI clearance is issued in the Philippines and applied for by mail; only the fingerprint card needs a consular officer.
Set against that, three things cannot be delegated or posted: passport biometrics, the RA 9225 oath, and signing a notarial document in front of a consular officer. For those, the trip is unavoidable.
Atlanta is a regular stop on the Embassy's outreach schedule, which matters: it is the largest Filipino community in the Deep South and the drive to Washington is around ten hours.
