How far the consulate is from your city
Driving distances to the post that covers each city, calculated at posted speed limits and without traffic:
| City | Philippine post | Distance | Journey |
|---|---|---|---|
| Missoula | Seattle | 477 miles | 8 h 39 min by car |
| Great Falls | Seattle | 642 miles | 11 h 46 min by car |
| Bozeman | Seattle | 678 miles | 11 h 56 min by car |
| Billings | Seattle | 822 miles | 14 h 19 min by car |
From Billings that is 14 h 19 min by car each way, which makes it worth checking the consular outreach schedule before committing to the drive: missions bring passport and dual citizenship services to cities without a post, and the appointments are free.
Three procedures that never reach a counter
Three of the most searched Philippine procedures in the United States are not consular procedures at all, and knowing that is worth more than knowing the opening hours:
- PSA certificates — birth, marriage, death, CENOMAR — come from the Philippine Statistics Authority and are ordered online.
- Apostilles on documents issued in Montana come from the state’s own competent authority. Since 15 May 2019 the consulate cannot authenticate them.
- NBI clearance is issued in the Philippines and applied for by mail; only the fingerprint card needs a consular officer.
What does require you in person is anything carrying your biometrics or your signature: a passport, the oath of allegiance and a special power of attorney.
From Billings or Missoula, Seattle is a flight rather than a drive. The change of jurisdiction shortened the journey considerably, but this remains one of the more remote consular districts in the country.
